DOMAIN REGISTRATION’S DO’S & DON’TS

DOMAIN REGISTRATION’S DO’S & DON’TS

Thus securing the perfect domain name is indeed a little daunting step in building an online presence.
With hundreds of different hosting companies out there, it can be difficult to pick the right way to do stuff. It's pretty easy for you to make a mistake when choosing your domain name and it could eventually blow up your company. The best way to register your domain name will make a major difference to the overall success of the website.
Let’s embark on a journey to the few do’s & don’ts of domain registration.

THE DO’S :
Try using your location or business keyword-You can try to add a domain name to your place if your company is primarily focused on the geographic area. If it seems possible, consider placing the keyword of your industry in the most important keyword. This will prove beneficial by rating your website organically among the top search results.
Join a domain in your name - When registering your domain; make sure that it is registered with your own name. A domain is just like every other piece of land. If you don't have it in your name, you don't have it legally that might cause you problems down the road.
It's an easy mistake to make, and a lot of people just don't really care about it, allowing their web development team to figure everything out for them. However, getting a domain name in someone else's name means they own your website, and if they wanted to, they could make you pay a lot more then you need it.
Don’t forget to renew your domain -Most hosting sites have an auto-renew feature that allows you to automatically renew your ownership of that domain every year. However, it is worth ensuring that this feature is definitely selected and checking it again once a year.
Although it's impossible, there's a worst-case scenario that's going to happen. Somebody buys your domain during the renewal era. This would mean that you will lose access not only to your website but to your email until such time as you figure it out. If this happens by chance, the first move will be to contact the new owner to see if you can buy it back from them.
If they decline to sell it back to you, you need to purchase a similar domain, link it to your website, and let all your clients know about the change to your email address. This needs to be done quickly to mitigate damage to your company. You will also need to update your contact information via your online presence.

DON’TS:
Do not use Dashes, Symbols or Abbreviations:  Dashes, marks, and abbreviations make the domain name difficult to type, hard to pronounce, and hard to recall. If you have a striking brand name, and there's a URL with no dots and dashes, and a URL with a dots and dashes collection, which one would you recall first? Well, be honest, when was the last time you typed a dotted or in-between word URL in a website? We think you've probably answered your own question.
If you think adding a dash to your domain is a smart idea, believe in me you are playing the wrong card. Your domain needs to be as easy to spell as it is to say because you don't want to have to say the word 'dash' when you give people your domain name.
Don’t restrict yourself to.COM:  Yes, you heard it right. Don’t limit yourself to.COM as it is already overstated. A new extension will definitely inject a new air into your online presence. This new extension will personalize your business & give your firm a unique look.
Don’t forget to choose the right registrar: Only go to the registrar who holds good business repute & have been in the industry for some time. Experienced & seasoned registrar will definitely help boost your business by providing high-class services. Domain management can be exciting if the products of your registrar include web hosting, a free email address, and domain privacy.
